Choosing Which Braces and Orthodontic Appliances Are Right For You
Dr. Bailey and his staff are highly trained and skilled in providing the most advanced orthodontic treatments available, ensuring that each patient receives the top-of-the-line, individualized care needed to complete their treatment.
Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces have been the most common type of braces for decades. However, the new generation of metal braces is made from high-grade stainless steel, which makes them smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive. The self-ligating braces that we use offer a faster treatment time than ever before, which means you spend less time in the doctor’s chair!
Which Braces Are Right For You?
Clear Braces
Our office is also thrilled to offer clear braces that provide a comfortable design with a transparent appearance. Due to their tooth-colored appearance, these braces are extremely popular with both teens and adults. The clear brackets are virtually undetectable, so it is even less noticeable that you are in the process of straightening your teeth.
Invisalign – Clear Removable Aligners
The Invisalign system is a series of removable clear aligners specifically designed to bring your teeth into proper alignment. Invisalign aligners are available for adults, and Invisalign treatment may be available for teens with certain bite problems. Schedule an appointment with us to see if you are a candidate for the Invisalign system.
Elastics
Elastics are a very important part of treatment which require patient compliance. They allow the braces to move teeth with increased force. Generally worn at all times aside from eating and brushing your teeth, elastics should be changed at least once a day. They come in various sizes, each used for a specific purpose. We will provide you with the appropriate size.
It is crucial to wear them consistently or treatment setbacks can occur. If only one day is missed, it could cause your teeth to shift back to their original position!

DR. BAILEY IS THE BEST OUT THERE!So I went in for a consultation for my braces.Georgia first gave me x-rays and as someone who HATES dentist or any places like that. Let me just say this, It didn’t actually scare me at all. Georgia was so sweet and funny! So she ran x-rays and Then doctor Bailey came in. He started small talk which was really comforting, and explained everything thoroughly. He Even showed me the measurements of my x-ray and how they are supposed to be! Then he showed us the options for my strong over bite for braces, he showed us everything recommended. Then he looked at me and my mom and said, “if you were my daughter I would go with the springs.” HE JUST SAVED US SO MUCH MORE MONEY! overall, his team and him are so sweet! We had an excellent experience with this practice. My 15 year old son recently completed his braces treatment, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. His smile looks amazing, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish.Dr. Bailey and the entire team were knowledgeable and skilled. They made my son feel comfortable at every visit, and appointments were consistently efficient and on time.We truly appreciated the professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care shown throughout his treatment. I highly recommend this practice to any family looking for outstanding orthodontic care for their child.
This is a busy place, and after our initial consultation I can see why. The imaging was free, and our meeting with Dr. Bailey was very informative. He even showed us imaging of another patient (whose mother had given permission) of before and after treatment to show how palate expansion and braces could transform and correct the jaw and bite alignment. Dr. Bailey was energetic and enthusiastic, and answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly. Amazingly, the price for treatment was lower than I expected! We are looking forward to getting started with Bailey Orthodontics as soon as possible.
Braces are not a "fun" experience on a whole, but Dr. Bailey and all of his staff were amazing throughout my entire journey. They are all very professional, patient and provided gentle care. I wish I could give them 100 stars in my review. Thank you Dr. Bailey- and everyone at Bailey Orthodontix for making my braces journey as painless as possible. I appreciate all of you!

Herbst Appliance
One of the most common problems orthodontists treat is the discrepancy that occurs when upper teeth protrude beyond the lower teeth. It is a common misconception that upper teeth protrude due to the upper jaw and teeth positioned too far forward, however, more commonly, this condition is due to a small lower jaw that rests further back than it should. With these patients, we want to encourage the lower jaw to catch up in growth, and appliances like the Herbst allow this shift to occur.
While the Herbst appliance prevents the lower jaw from moving backward, opening and closing movements still occur easily, and patients do not have any problems learning to chew their food with their lower jaw in this new position.
As with all kinds of braces, patients with Herbst appliances should be mindful of what they eat. We suggest avoiding:
- Cold foods that will freeze the cement and loosen braces
- Ice slushies
- Popsicles
- Sticky foods that will pull the brace away from the teeth
- Bubble gum
- Candy suckers
- Caramels
- Hard foods that will bend and loosen the appliance
- Crisp vegetables
- Hard candies
We will check and adjust your Herbst appliance during your scheduled appointments. If between appointments you develop some sore areas on the inside of your cheeks, contact us to schedule a quick appointment for corrective adjustments.

Wearing a Herbst Appliance
At first, your mouth will feel unusually full, and speaking will be awkward. We suggest practicing reading aloud, and your ordinary speech will return quickly.
Rapid Palatal Expander
Attached to the upper molars by bonded or cemented bands, the Rapid Palatal Expander is an orthodontic device used to widen the space in the upper jaw.
While patients are still growing, their connective tissue between the left and right halves of their upper jaw is very responsive to expansion. By simply turning a screw in the center of the palatal expander with a special key we provide, the expander activates and places gradual, outward pressure on the left and right halves of the upper jaw. This pressure causes an increased amount of bone to grow between the right and left halves of the jaw, ultimately resulting in increased width.
