Retainers in Coppell, Flower Mound, and Irving, TX

Congratulations! Your braces are off!

Once your braces are removed, you will then begin what is known as the retention stage of your treatment. It is best that Dr. Bailey or Dr. Spruiell sees you approximately 6-8 weeks following the removal of your braces to check your retainers and review your treatment result.

The retention phase, or retainer phase, is very important for keeping your smile, as it was the day your braces were removed. The nature of your bite is to not hold its straight, new positions. If you want your teeth to look as good in twenty years as they do the day your braces come off, you will have to make retention a lifelong commitment. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far.

At our office, we do offer an upper removable retainer, which you will need to wear nightly as you sleep. A few things to remember is to remove your upper retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth or in its retainer case.

When you take the retainer out, remember to:

Brush it

Rinse it

Place it back in its case

Make sure you keep it in the case when you are not wearing it.

Make sure you don’t leave your retainer in a warm place…they are plastic and can change shape.

Keep retainers away from the pets as they are expensive chew toys!

Fixed lower retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of the left cuspid continuing around to the right cuspid. This is one of the best ways to prevent your lower teeth from shifting as it is permanently attached! Patients with fixed lower retainers must be careful with their bites, as the bonding material may break due to incorrect biting and cause teeth to shift quickly. As with removable retainers, it is important to keep them clean. When brushing, make sure to carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth as well as the wire. Be aware of your lower permanent retainer, and if any of the bonding spots become loose, call our office to schedule a repair appointment as soon as possible.

The best dental office in Flower Mound. The staff is exceptionally polite and professional. I had a problem with a permanent retainer and they were able to schedule me the very next day. Highly recommend.

We had a great experience with Bailey orthodontist at Coppell. My daughter broke her permanent retainer and was in a lot of pain. They were incredibly accommodating and got her in right away to fix it. The staff was kind, professional, and made sure she was comfortable throughout the entire visit. The office is beautiful and very clean, which added to the overall great experience. I really appreciate how caring and efficient everyone was—we left feeling relieved and well taken care of.
