Final Touches
The day our braces come off to reveal your final, beautiful smile should be one of the happiest days of your life. Months or even years of hard work and anticipation all culminating in that moment when the braces are removed and your naked teeth are exposed. You will undoubtedly be counting down the days until your braces come off, telling all of your friends that it is coming, and the excitement is almost palpable! You have been dreaming of that Julia Roberts glowing smile that you see in magazines and you can’t wait to show it off at school after your appointment.
In our office, we go the extra mile to make sure the final result is what you have dreamed about not just something you settle for! One of the most common issues that can prevent your final result from being what you had hoped for is “puffy gums.” This can occur due to poor hygiene, hypertrophic tissue, mild metal allergy, or just simply thick gnarly gums from enduring the orthodontic treatment. Fortunately for you, as part of your treatment with us, we apply a finishing touch that is not painful, provided at no cost, and really makes your smile shine.
Here is our last transformation…

This photo was taken just moments after the braces were removed. The green is the topical anesthetic we use to provide anesthetic to the area. No shots, no discomfort at all.

This photo was taken 10 minutes later, as soon as the treatment was done. Very minimum to no bleeding, no pain medication needed and he went back to school the same day. I often have the patients rub vitamin E oil on the gums to help it heal a bit faster.

This photo was taken 1 week after the treatment.

This photo was taken 2 weeks after the treatment. The gums looked perfect, with no signs of trauma and the patient reported no discomfort after the procedure. He said it felt “like a pizza burn” the next day, but after that, no problem.
So, as you can see, this adds so much value and really makes his smile shine! Orthodontics can make some amazing improvements in smile, function, and confidence, but sometimes it’s the finishing touches that make the biggest difference. It is our goal to do everything possible to provide the perfect smile!
